About the Author

Hello, my name is Alia Pierre-Louis, and I am a dedicated teacher and author with a passion for educating children and promoting strong community values. I was born in Passaic, New Jersey, but was raised in Haiti by my Haitian-born parents. Today, I work as an elementary school teacher in Haiti.

In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I am actively involved in social initiatives that support vulnerable communities, particularly projects aimed at assisting underprivileged children.

Recently, I became a mother to a daughter, which has brought me renewed inspiration. The tenderness and challenges of motherhood have deepened my sense of purpose and sharpened my voice. This experience fuels my drive not only to write but also to create a legacy my daughter can be proud of.

My passion for storytelling, Haitian culture, and social engagement is evident in my writing. My first book "The Mermaid of Grand’Anse" explores the fantasy genre while highlighting cultural themes and social issues. My new book "Mathéo and the Red Soldier" is a tribute to childhood, courage, and hope.
